The NLSC District Training Centre (DTC) program is a new initiative that has been implemented by Head Coach, Larry Ladobruk. The program has been designed to give players who are committed to the game of soccer an opportunity to further challenge and enhance their abilities through additional training with our Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) certified National and Provincial Licensed Coaches.

NLSC will invite a number of selected players aged 11 to 16 to participate in the program. The program will focus on the implementation of fundamental skills, tactical, physical and mental development.

The following are essential elements for the player development training program:

    Individual Skill Development:

    • Dribbling
    • Feinting
    • Ball Control
      • on the ground
      • in the air
    • Passing
      • short
      • long
    • heading
    • shooting.

    Tactical Behavior:

    • 1v1 attacking/defending
    • behavior off of the ball
      • creating space
      • creating passing opportunities
    • transition
      • attack to defense
      • defense to attack
    • building play
      • inter passing
    • zone defense
    • finishing.

    Fitness Component:

It is essential all players are physically prepared to compete at the highest possible level. This physical preparation would include:

    • Anaerobic – speed/agility
    • Aerobic – stamina/endurance
    • Core stability – strength and balance

Training sessions will be 1.5 hrs with approximately half of the session focusing on individual skills development with the remainder of the session focusing on team tactic. With the overall objective to participate in intersquad and exhibition games with other DTC’s in the city and possibly an out of town tournament.

DTC players will be identified throughout the year on recommendations from Academy and Team Coaches and will be invited to participate in the program on a season by season basis.
